This includes designing and building complex hardware and software based solutions that support enterprise level performance including monitoring and tuning.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:1) Creates complex hardware design at the component level based on the infrastructure architecture and the detailed business requirements.2) Understands and appropriately compensates for the proper sizing of hardware environments to support business requirements3) Develops strategies for the monitoring, preventive maintenance and disaster recovery of complex infrastructure.4) Serves as technical expert in one or more infrastructure solution spaces.5) Assures that solution designs meet requirements for scalability, performance and quality in accordance with negotiated service level agreements.6) Participates in the assessment and resolution of complex hardware defects.7) Assists project management with the development of work breakdown structures, project plans and skills required to develop and implement solutions.8) Participates in design reviews for implementation projects.9) Conducts technical evaluations.10) Leads the review, business case development and implementation of systems and deployment standards11) Understands Information Security measures and current standards, practices and technology.Additional Functions:1) Serves as liaison with suppliers for sustaining activities.2) Assists with evaluation and recommendations regarding currently deployed systems and services.3) Supports management in recruiting and hiring4) Using knowledge of technology and existing systems, mentors junior staff on building and maintaining systems.5) Performs other duties as assigned.Other Requirements:1) A credit history check from a national credit bureau will be conducted for all candidates for this position including new hires and current employees seeking promotion or transfer.2) Expert in one or more hardware solution spaces (servers, network, desktop, storage, security) with experience in others.3) IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) exposure is desired.4) Solid understanding of system lifecycle methodologies, hardware architecture and standards.5) Experience working in teams.6) Proficiency with MS Office.7) Ability to solve problems quickly and completely. Ability to identify tasks which require automation.8) Strong inter-personal and communication skills; must be capable of explaining complex procedures in writing or verbally.
